I just found the headline amusing.

Re: Shropshire Star: Shropshire and Mid Wales hit by snow misery

I just had to reply...

That you for the comments, but I purposely avoided using the words 'shock', 'horror', or even 'killer winter death storm'. I'll save that one for the great six inches of winter (as they say).

On a slightly different note, this video shows how quickly us video journalists can turn something around.

Bearing in mind I left the office at 9am, I had this online by 12.15pm... and that includes the hour-long drive around Shropshire. It does not have any interviews, but I think it gets across the overall message.

Anyway, hope you're all enjoying life in the US!

James

Re: Shropshire Star: Shropshire and Mid Wales hit by snow misery

LOL Martin. I rarely comment on a Del.icio.us link, but I just had to on this one. Growing up west of Chicago, 5 inches of snow is just a light dusting.

But hey, this is just as bad as the weather wimps in Washington DC where I last lived. The mere threat of snow caused a run on staples at the stores, and parents almost rioted if school wasn't cancelled. It was as if snow posed a clear and present danger.

Oh, and the terms 'misery', 'crisis' and 'shock' are just a few elements in the rich language of hyperbolic catastrophe used by British journalists.
